Today is day to see a bit of the pain Jesus experienced. First thing this morning we hurried to the site where Jesus died - the rock on which his cross was placed. It's a crowded destination where Greek orthodox, coptic Armenians and catholic come together. There are sad images of Christ in pain. From here we journey to other places on Christ's path... The place where he wept for Jerusalem (nice view!) and now I'm sitting in the garden of gethsemane - where Jesus...

So the faithful have come to bethlehem to see where baby Jesus was born. It's not actually a stable... It's a cave that is under the inn - this is what was a stable was. Then mass in St Catherine's church. It's a beautiful church and it's nice to sing Christmas carols in august. We had to cross back out of Palestinian territory and back into Israel, we were expecting to wait hours but breezed through - definitely had some favours from upstairs as we were able to...

So today has a lot to do with being humble. Standing at the top of Mt Beatitudes thinking about how to live better. Reminding me of my old theory that you need to have difficulty in life to be a great artist - maybe it's the same to be a good catholic?? Happy are the poor for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
