So we made the morning train to Pisa - tourist mecca. It's only an hour on the train from Florence. We bought our tickets to climb, went and had lunch and came back (there's about a two hour wait). Totally worth it through - it's like being drunk, parts you veer left, then forwards, then right as you ascend the stairs. It's a lovely view from the top and you get to go right up.
