After Lake Taupo we went to New Plymouth for a few days. We stayed ina really nice campsite where we had our own secluded little bit of garden. We went in the sauna one night and it was so hot after ten minutes we had to turn it off and open the door, for fear of passing out! lol... "oh yes, lovely and relaxing, thank you".
On the Saturday morning we went to a Market which was a little bit naff, as it was a bit more like a jumble sale. But we got ourselves some nice home grown strawberries so all was not lost. We found a nice vineyard on the way back and picked up a bottle of Red and then some nice steaks to go with it. Both were stunning! Might sound like all we've done in New Zealand is drink wine?... that's because it is! lol...
I hadn't realised that Sheff from back home was now living in New Plymouth, so we called him up and arranged to meet him the following morning. He had been out the night before however and still got up to make us a full English breakfast, which was stunning! We went for a walk with him and his friend Joey up to Mount Taranaki. We couldn't get as far as we wanted, as you really needed proper climbing gear but still it was pretty cool and worth the walk.
We said goodbye to them and headed off to Palmerston North for a night. There wasn't really anything there, so we just had a few bottles of vino and chilled in the van, perfect! ;O)
The next morning we drove to Wellington, where we were hoping to get new tattoos done, but unfortunately everywhere was booked up for a few weeks.
We went to the Te Papa museum which was free and pretty huge considering. Other than that, we just sorted out a few birthday presents etc... but couldn't do all that much because it rained a lot of the time. Although, on one of the days we decided to go to the cinema to watch the new Christmas Carol 3D film, which is the first time we'd actually thought about it being Chrimbo! Strange.
