We arrived in the Mount and got settled in our campsite. We all went for a walk into the town, via the beach front and ended up having a few drinks in the pub.
A few drinks turned into a few too many and we instead of the planned chicken stir fry, we ended up getting drunken food from the chip shop! Yummy.
The next day was Christmas Eve and we had to brave the supermarket. Andy and Ant weren't overly keen, as you can imagine so they stayed around the campsite and went for a walk. Me, Hayley and Mum all went off to do the nightmare shopping. It was just as bad as at home and people were driving each other crazy with there trolleys. Mum realised that absolutely no one was going into the cleaning products isle, so we decided to leave ours there and return with a few things at a time. Good move!
In the afternoon we went to town and bought a few little present for Chrissys baby Mckenzie and they came up to the campsite later afternoon for a Xmas drink.
On Christmas morning we all got up and went for a nice walk around the Mount, followed by a good old fashioned full English breakfast. It didn't feel like Christmas at all and it was strange saying 'Merry Xmas' as people walked past, on our way to the beach. We played a few games of boules, read a few magazines and then headed back to camp to cook our 'non traditional' Xmas dinner.
We put on a Xmas CD for all of about 5 minutes before both me and Hayley decided it was too depressing and reminded us too much of being at home with everyone. We tucked into our first drink at around 5pm, which we thought was pretty damn good and nothing like us at all. Then we cooked some banana prawns, followed by steak and salad. Mum had brought us all Xmas hats to wear and we had a few pictures taken with them on before it got a bit too warm.
It was really nice spending Xmas with my family and although it just felt like a normal day having a BBQ, it was still a really good laugh. It would have even better if Ants family could have been there too and they were very much missed but we'll have to have an even bigger Xmas next year. ;O)
The next day everyone was feeling quite rough and Ant ended up going back to bed for most of the day. Mum and Andy went for a long walk and Hayley went and lay down in the camper. I got a call from Chrissy and went to meet her for a few beers. Hayles called me later and said she was coming into town to meet a friend of Peters and in the end we didn't get back till 9.30pm, a little bit more than tipsy!
Me and Ant woke up at 7am and decided to walk to the summit. It was quite a tough walk but worth it, except on the way back down I managed to slip and fall over. Ant took pictures!!! We had another full English when we got back and then went to the free hot springs at the campsite. The sun was heating up and with the water reflecting, we ended up getting a little bit burnt without realising.
There was some Dj's playing on the beach so we went for a walk to see what was going on but there is a drinking ban in public places so it was really just a load of kids getting high on coca cola. We went to the pub!
In the evening we had the cheese and biscuits from Xmas day with lots of red wine and port yum! It was our last day with Mum and Andy until the new year so the next day we had to say our goodbyes for a week. Me and Mum ended up in a bit of an arguement when we tried to check out and get our deposits back for our fobs but in the end she pretty much threw the money at us! lol.. We weren't giving up!
Mum and Andy went off to the Coromandal and me, Hayley and Ant drove to Lake Terewera for New Years.
