We arrived in Rotorua late afternoon and finally got to see Chrissie, Wayne and their beautiful daughter Mckenzie (3 months!) and Waynes daughter Maia.
Chrissie has cooked us a lovely dinner and it was really nice to catch up over a few (too many!) glasses of wine. Time flew by and before we knew it we were all tucked up sound asleep.
The next day after a hungover burger king breakfast me and Ant went to the shops to buy some more camping gear. We picked up food for dinner and I cooked a nice big hearty roast. We got involved in a few more glasses of wine but everyone was so tired we were all in bed again by ten. Hate to admit, we may be getting old!
The day after, we headed off to Lake Taupo and had a few nights in a lovely campsite there. We went for a few walks, read our books and just enjoyed the mountain views.
Whilst hanging out the washing one day, I got bombarded with ducks. They followed me back to the van so I gave them some bread! Bit of a mistake, because they doubled in numbers and before you know it they were biting our trainers and trying to jump in the van! In the end, we were stuck in the van surrounded by ducks, who left little dirty presents outside! lol... note to self, 'do not feed the ducks!'.
We went to a place called Craters of the Moon (thermal craters) and then Huka falls. Both were really beautiful and it was nice to see something different.
