We still had a few days before my parents arrived in Christchurch, so we decided to take a drive down to Lake Tekapo. As we drove round to the campsite, we were really glad we had because the water was a stunning turquoise colour, with the snow covered mountains in the back ground. Also, the sun decided to make an appearance for the whole weekend so we actually got to use our chairs! Yippee...
We walked up to Mt John on the second day, where we got a 360 degree look of the surrounding areas. Stunning! Then we went back to the van for cheese and biscuits. Its a hard life! The next morning, we had bacon and eggs on our gas stove, sitting outside the van in the sun which was lovely and our first time being able to use the stove. The weather took a bit of a turn the following day, but the sun came out for us in the afternoon when Donna and Andy were passing by the go to Queenstown.
The following morning we drove to Christchurch to pick up Mum and Andy. We stayed the night in a hotel and they paid for us to have a really lovely meal in the hotel restaurant. We went with them to pick up their van the next day and set off on our way to Hamner Springs. In hamner we went in the hot springs in the afternoon, followed by ten too many drinks outside the campervans in the evening. Its really nice seeing my parents and we're really enjoying the good company and food!
