After Hanmer Springs we drove to Kaikoura. We walked along to the wharf hoping to spot some seals, but after an hour we gave up and went to the pub instead he he. We played cards after our BBQ in the evening and watched seaguls fight with each other over bread. Oh the small things that amuse you after months of travelling! lol...
The next morning we drove to Blenheim and along the way spotted loads of massive seals just on the beach, so everyone was pleased. Once we got to Blenheim, me and Mum went shopping in the town and Ant and Andy went to an historic air musuem. We booked our wine tour for the next day and again, had a couple too many drinks in the evening over dinner.
Our wine tour started at 11.30am, so we were having our first sip of wine in a vineyard by 11.45. We went to Montana, Lawsons and 3 others that we can't really remember but all were lovely and we had about 6-8 samples in each. We also stopped for lunch half way through the day and got to try the wine before we picked a bottle to have with the food. There were three other ladies on our tour, all really good fun and a good day was had by all. We bought a few good bottles of wine to have at Christmas and after a day of tasting we were all a little tipsy. In the evening we decided not to cook and Mum and Andy took us to a nice restaurant near the campsite before we all got an early night. It was a brilliant day and looking forward to the next wine tour of Napier/ Hawkes Bay which is more of the red wine region.
