We arrived in Taupo in the afternoon and I rang the Taupo Tandem Skydive company to see if me and Mum could do a skydive the next day. They said they could fit us in today if we could be there in 20 minutes. We decided to just get a move on and do it so of we went.
By the time we got there, we were both looking a little bit more than scared but were determined enough! They got us into the gear and arranged who would be jumping with us. Mum, Andy and Ant stood laughing at us both and taking pictures of our pale faces but next thing you know we were up in the plane on our way.
All I kept thinking was, what the hell am I doing?! I was strapped to a German guy called Freddy who was hilarious. Someone farted whilst we were on our way up and he sang smelly cat! lol... The first people to jump were those doing the 12,000ft jump and it made my stomach churn watching them fall! I could hear my Mum chatting away to Micheal Holmes (the guy from Jersey that nearly died sky diving!) and not seeming bothered at all.
Finally at 15,000ft it was our turn. I had to smile for the camera before we dropped out through the sky. That minute second where I fell was liker a rollercoaster ride, when you go up and up and up and then suddenly it drops at the other side. Next thing I'm falling at a minimum speed of 200km and can't actually breathe. Freddy was telling me to do things like superman or pretend to swim, but I couldn't think of anything other than trying to get some oxygen! Then he pulled the chute and everything was much nicer as we floated to the ground. I was having problems equalising on the way down and after many attempts, I managed to sort it out with one big pop in my ear.
We watched the DVD after the dive and my face is hilarious as I fall out. My Mum however is smiling all the way through it and doesn't look even a tiny bit bothered by it all. We were really pleased we did it and it was an amazing experience that I would definately do again!
That evening I was getting pain in the my ear and told the others that I think I might have burst my eardrum so the next morning I went to the doctors. Sure enough, I had a nice little hole in it and can't go swimming! Rubbish...!
Ant and Andy wanted to go Jet boating in the afternoon, so we went to Huka falls and they really loved it. We managed to get some good pictures of them too to add to the collection. Then we went for a little walk by the Lake, before playing mini golf again in the sun. Lovely jubbley!
