We decided that however much we loved Arequipa we really had to leave and so we managed to book ourselves onto a bus for this evening. We spent the day doing all the bits around the city that we still hadnt done like visiting the mummy in the museum (really freaky story of the Incas sacrificing children up on the mountain and then the body was found 10 years ago in perfect condition as it had been preserved by the ice) we also went back to the market so I could get another jumper.
On our way to visit the cathedral we saw a sign for massages so I ended up having the most amazing massage for only 2 pounds. I was in heaven. Mike wimped out as he didnt like the look of the camp man giving him a massage. Well his loss!
We met up with dan and went for pizza for dinner and finally we headed to the bus station to catch our bus. We were so pleasantly surprised by how nice the bus was. After saying goodbye to arequipa (feeling really quite sad as we both just loved this place) the crazy music came on, they tried to feed us some really wierd food and finally the lights went out for the night. Ok so the bus did look nice but suddenly when the person infront put their seat back to 150 degrees and you were enclosed in the tiniest space it wasnt quite so good but we could put up with it. Then they turned off the heating and we literaly froze the entire night. How the hell mike snored his way through it im just not sure! I just couldnt sleep and when at 3am I really needed the loo I thought I would just hop over mike which actually worked pretty well. Getingh back into my seat was not quite so easy and when he woke up with me climbing over him thinking it was someone trying to kill him it was the funniest thing ive ever seen!
Somehow we both managed to sleep for the next couple of hours only for the lady to then come and grab our blankets off us and blare the sound track to titanic over the speakers. What a way to be woken at 5am!
