Wooo Hoooo I am finally upto date with the blog! We got the bus from Lake Titicaca in the morning with the intention of stopping on the Peruvian side for a few days before moving on. Now this travelling buisness is very cut throat and so on arrival in Puno a few hours later we realised it was a complete s*** hole and booked straight onto another bus to take us to adventure captial of South America Areqipa! You might think this is a bit stupid not giving a place a chance before you properly see it but with so much to do in so little time it is what we have to do! The bus to Arequipa looked so nice from the outside that when we got inside and realised it was disgusiting it was just too late to do anything so we settled down on the stinking bus which had no air and set off on our 5hr journey.
Now when in Peru they say a 5hr journey what they actually mean is 5hr after all the locals have got off trying to sell you their rotting food. It sounds harsh but when you are on a bus with no circulating air and they come on trying to sell you chicken feet and meat which smells awful you do just wish the bus driver would stop taking back handers and just drive the bus!
About an hour before we arrived this Peruvian dude starts trying to sell the entire bus this miracle cure for osteoporosis and asthma amongst other things. We really didnt mind for the first couple of minutes but when you have someone shouting in spanish in your ear and spitting all over you for a bloody hour you really cant stand it! Anyway he finally shut up and everyone on the bus bought his miracle cure for every disease possible and we arrived in Areqipa.
We had to get a taxi to the centre and our bartering skill were so shocking we might as well have paid to first amount he said (mike is telling me off for saying this. He wants you all to know he knocked the guy down by 50c which works out as about 2p). We arrived in our hostel (mike left my lonely planet bible in the taxi) and settled into this lovely little hostel which has a roof terrace overlooking the entire city. It is stunning!
We took a look around the town grabbed some pizza for dinner and just hung out with our new room mates before heading to bed.
Right well we are off to book our latest stuff. We are climbing a volcano, white water rafting and trekking so you probably wont hear from us for a while but ill update as soon as we are done. Love to you all x
