Alarm call at 5.30 to meet in the lobby at 5.45 for those who wanted to come whale watching. Pat, Martin, Roger and I were the only ones who wanted to participate. We arrived at the port of Marissa at 6.15 where we met the ships captain and jumped aboard his vessel. The boat didn't depart till 7.00, but it meant we got the best seats, and by the time we departed, another 8 people had joined us. From the port, it took us around 45 minutes to reach the viewing area. Within the space of the next 1.5 hours we saw several blue whales and sperm whales, and a pod of porpoises, all within around 50 feet of the boat. We were very lucky today, as according to the captain, normally you will see one or the other. However there was a rogue vessel which kept on breaking the 50 feet rule, which was annoying, as it meant that it often got to the whales before us and scared them off to a degree. We arrived back into the port at around 10.15, where Kingsley picked us up, and we headed back to the hotel.
