Woke up at 7.15 for breakfast at 7.45. Checked out of the hotel at 9.00 and took a tuk tuk to The Mount Lavinia hotel where Fiona had made me a reservation. A bit of luxury at the end if the holiday is just what I needed.

I was able to get into my room which had a wonderful sea view, so after dropping my things, I headed back out and took a tuk tuk to the History Museum (which outlined the history of Sri Lanka and had the usual artifacts found in museums such as coins and religious statues). Unfortunately it had been robbed a few months before, so the 2nd floor was out of bounds. For only 100 rupees extra I had the option of going to the Natural History Museum, which I decided to do, though there was not much of interest, save for a few stuffed specimens. After finding a bank and changing some more rupees, I found a local roadside cafe and had rice and beef curry, (probably one of the hottest I had had so far!!!), I then decided to take a tuk tuk back to the hotel and make the most of the facilities offered there. I spent the rest of the afternoon, (by then it was around 3.00pm) by the swimmming pool, after having gone down to the private beach owned by the hotel, and having had Lion lager whilst writing my post cards, followed by a paddle in the sea, as it was too rough to swim.

For dinner I decided to try out The Fisherman's Cove Restaurant on the seashore. Here, one chooses the fish you want, (I chose Mullett), and then the side orders and sauce you wish to go with the fish. This was indeed a wonderful last night to a very memorable holiday.
