We left the tea plantation at around 11.30 and continued winding our way through the mountains till we reached Nurwara Eliya at around 12.30. Nurwara Eliya (or little England), was built by the British during the 1800's as a retreat away from the heat of the plains. It was so named because of the colonial style bungalows which line it's streets. We stopped for lunch at The Grand Hotel which was built at this time and has wood panelled walks and withdrawing rooms.

After having lunch, we took the bus to the centre of Nurwara Eliya, where it dropped us at the supermarket, so that we could buy presents for the children we would encounter on our walk the next day. We then had an hour to walk round the town to see what it offered, before the bus picked us up and took us to our hotel 6km out of town.

The rest of the afternoon was free time to spend as we wished. I walked round the vicinity of the hotel, and met a couple of young children who were very excited to have their photos taken, and then see the results on camera.

At 6.30, those of us who wished, met in the dining room of the hotel, and then proceeded to the hotel kitchen where we were given a cookery demonstration and shown how to make 3 dishes.

Dinner was early at 8.00, as we had to rise early the following day for our walk to World's End and beyond.
