It's currently 1.30pm, I have no idea what day of the week it is, it's possibly the 5th of January! I am lying on my bunk on the train to Mumbai, or Bombay which seems to be what all the India's call it. Ange is asleep in the bunk above me and I finding myself torn between simply starring out of the window or reading either the lonely planet India book or the book I'm currently reading (marching powder) which is excellent. Instead tho I have decided to write this!
As I look out of the window I can't help but think how much the landscape has changed yet again. The sky is perfectly clear and a beautiful shade of blue I think it's the first time I have seen clear skies since we have been in India, which gives me hope that we might soon finally be warm.
Everything seems so much greener and more alive and I am unsure if this is due to change in soil conditions and climate as we over 1000kms from where we boarded.
A very small mountain range can be seen in the distance. The crops being grown varies widely from bananas, rice, rapeseed and all sorts. Fields with 30 people working in them will appear every so often. Much of the landscape is deserted other than occasional small station or villages. At times the view from the window could easily be of anywhere in the world although often beautiful it is only the human influence that defines the view as Indian!
I ordered some lunch for me and ange at about 12.30 I have no idea what I order as all he told me was lunch and that I would be here at 2.30, I highly doubt it will be on time.
We decided not to book accommodation in Mumbai although we are due in at 2.15pm given our previous experience it could quite easily be the next day especially as we were nearly 4 hours late leaving.
