We got to Udaipur yesterday afternoon following a few stops on the way to Ranakpur for a chai tea (coffee for me, everyone here and especially Ange loves chai but I can't stand it, I thinks it's the cinnamon that I hate!), the bank and the post office. We spent most of the afternoon walking round some pretty gardens that had the most pathetic and random museum at their centre. Then drove round a few of Udaipur's many connected lakes before heading to the hotel. The driver took us out for dinner to a traditional Rajasthani thali place, where the waiters just keeping coming round and topping up the 9 or 10 different dishes/items on ur tray, we ate far too much but it was really good.
The following day we needed to cure Ange's sudden desire to "shop" but decided to do this after being cultural. We headed for the city palace and museum this was unfortunately very disappointing I'm not sure if it's because we just 'over' temples, forts and palaces. But the city palace museum was more like and overcrowded art gallery where the paintings are all by the same artist. We feeling a little cheated out of our $3 each which isn't much but on our tight budget can quickly add up!
Then off for a shop (oh the irony) Ange wanted a shawl and nose ring and me some playing cards! All of which we got for less than we spent on the museum. We quickly got bored of shopping so it turned into dinner.
