Yesterday was our day and night in the desert riding camels. For the first half of the day we wondered round and explored Jaisalmer's impressive hill top, which as you approach the town appears to rise out of the desert like a strange mirage. After an hours drive further into the desert we mounted our camels and set off for the dunes to watch the sunset. It quickly occurred to us that camels were neither fast or comfortable! Just a short one today as most of yesterday was filled with the drive to Jaisalmer, the golden city; because of the colour of the sandstone used for almost all the buildings. We are heading off further into the desert today to do a camel safari and spend a night sleeping in the desert.
