Sunup was lovely and we woke about 7am and had onion and cheese omelets for breakfast. We walked over to the Millstream homestead which is now an information centre and there was a short walk around there. Lovely paperbarks, running streams and culminating in a lily pad pond surrounded the property. We then set off on a 6.5 km walk to Crossing Pool. The walking track was well marked and flat walking, firstly through the paperbarks and Millstream palms then through open grassy area and then across the Fortescue River bed to Crossing Pool. It was very warm going. At the pool was another camp that doesn't permit caravans - very peaceful and the pool large. Chatted to the volunteer ranger for a while and returned to camp in time for lunch. Quite hot this afternoon. We then took a drive to a few of the sights close by. Don't know where all this water comes from. Gerry is trying to work out what is wrong with one of our tyres that is slowly going down. Will need to get it fixed in Karratha. Luckily we only have about 20 k's of dirt left. There was a very tame kangaroo at our camp stealing food from the camp next door rubbish bag. This afternoon I cooked a cake and stewed up the couple of apples and pears that were left. Food almost out so will have to have a shop up when we get to Karratha tomorrow.
