I had set my alarm for 3.30 pm so I could wake to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Stayed awake until Australia entered the arena and then woke to watch after UK had entered. Inala phoned around 8 am to let me know that Tom and Gill were engaged so got up and prepared to go around the peninsular for the day. We headed north and stopped at the wreck of the SS Mildura - a cattle ship that was wrecked over 100 years ago and it is still visible on rocks close to shore. Stopped next at the Vlamingh Lighthouse - very high up with great view. We then headed south stopping at Jurabi Turtle Centre and some of the camp spots. Had a look at the Tantabiddi Boat Ramp and the Yardie Homestead Caravan Park. We then entered the Cape Range National Park and stopped at the Observation Bird Hide, some of the camping areas and the Milyering Visitor Centre. We stopped for our picnic lunch at Turquoise Bat and had just finished when Barney and Lyn arrived for their lunch. Continuing on we called in to Kurrajong camp site and visited David and Julie Burke. They were camped there for 3 days. The weather was fine but windy. The beaches were lovely sandy and looked like snorkelleing was popular as the reef was just off shore. We continued on to Yardie Creek and had a walk to see the gorge there. By this time it was getting late so we headed home. We have packed up the awning etc. in readiness for the morning when we are off to Coral Bay. Having tea at Baxters camp - chops and a sausage.
