It was Breeders Day at the races. Breeders day is where all the Cape Stud owners go to the races and everything is sponsored and paid for by the Cape Breeders Association. This includes tables and a buffet meal! There are also raffles and freebies and stuff being organised all day.
On our table was Terry, Annabel, Pippa, Mel, Ian, Justin, Claudia, Lindy and Paul. The names you don't recognised are close family friends who we have met on various occasions. Especially at braai's at the farm.
It was a really good day with lovely food and some good racing. Each time we have been having a few small bets on what they call the Pick 6 or Place Accumulator bets but by then we were realising this wasn't working out so well so had decided not to play these particular games anymore.
During the afternoon Sarah and I sneaked off with the car to visit Mike Kelly and his wife Abi who were in Cape Town as part of an incentive trip paid for by Toyota. They were staying in The One and Only Hotel at the Waterfront. Very nice indeed!
We met them returning from a trip up Table Mountain although Abi doesn't like Cable Cars and remained at the bottom while Mike went up. Both had a really good day, especially after spending the morning visiting various wineries.
They treated us to a drink while we sat and talked about our trip and Westover for an hour or so but then they had to go and have a shower ready for dinner with the group and we had to get back to the races to pick everyone else up, as no doubt by that time none of them would be in any state to drive!
A good day had by all…
Adam
