Mike (aka Badger) and his family are in town! They are staying at the Twelve Apostles Hotel which is situated in Camps Bay behind Table Mountain. We borrowed Justin's car and drove there to pick him up allowing an hour and a half for traffic. Good job we did!
The route we took goes right past the entrance to the cable car to get up the mountain meaning it was very busy. However, it's a really nice drive and the scenery is beautiful. Once over the other side we headed into Camps Bay itself and there were some really nice houses that reminded me of New Zealand. There were also some very nice cars parked on the driveways such as Audi R8's and Ferrari's!
When we finally arrived at the hotel Badger was already waiting from us so he hopped in the car and we decided to take him to Big Bay as he had not yet been to that side of the city. As I've mentioned before the views here are just as good as at Table View a bit further down the coast, although we drove past there to show Badger. We then had a drink or two at Moyo and caught up on old times. It was nice to have him there and to find out what he's been up to these last few months. He was also keen to hear all our tales, having done some travelling himself a few years ago.
Later we returned to the hotel and had drinks with his parents and sister. We spoke for several hours about our travels so far and plans for the coming months. I've met Badger's parents a number of times before so know them quite well although Sarah had never met them before that day.
Unfortunately Badger was going to be busy for the rest of his holiday otherwise we would have loved to have taken him to see the farm and its impressive views.
Later that evening we returned to find another braai had been planned with friends and family! Yum yum!
