Albergue Paroquial
I probably had one of the worst nights of my life with regard to sleeping , which was ironic given that it was a women only dormitory.
The days walk was hard, again, because The Camino followed much of the road.
It was very hot today. Very very hot!!
I didn't eat much on the way, so started to go a bit doolalee.
The albergue I arrived at was one of the best, as shown above. It was a special place for me apart from the fact that it was the longest day of the year, hot and the setting was perfect for a summers evening. However, it was also one of the first albergues set up by the knights of at St John before they set off for Malta to commence their order there.
I had a pleasant evening, with faces I recognised from Leon, ie people who were mad enough to walk an extra 10km just for the hell of it. We made a great meal together for next to nothing of steak and salad.
After the meal I walked into the town and took a photo of the medieval bridge which straddles the town. As usual it was of immense historical significance for the Camino, built over an old roman bridge on the Middle Ages and incredibly well preserved. A real treat.
I also came across a sign mentioning that there was now just under 300 km to Santiago. I think my jaw dropped to the floor.
