Arrived at Cairns and rung hostel which we had pre-booked and they came and collected us. Not quite as nice as Bunk but still nice all the same. Weather was much warmer and instantly noticable differance. Searched around for car and found advert in couple places for a Ford Falcon Station wagon. We rang advert and still for sale (which was good news since a number of other occasions we had rung and already sold vehicle). Couple germans were selling car and we arranged to meet them that evening. Car mechanically looked and sounded fine so agreed to buy. They had advertised at $2,800 but got them down to $2,300. Came complete with camping gear and sleeping stuff (matress and sheets, pillows ets, also a load of plates, and knives etc so plenty of stuff to keep us going. Didn't actually get car or pay for it until couple days later. Met girls following day and had a couple beers with them around town and then following day we got the car. They had bought a stereo for it but couldn't fit it so we did this that afternoon so we could have some tunes to chicken wing it to down the coast!!! Went to girls hostel that evening as they had told us they would cook us a meal. Had real good slap up meal (wasn't Bratwurst or sourkraut either!!!) and also a couple beers. The girls had told us they had named the car Fred, which personally I thought is a bit of a sh1t name. We therefore re-christened our passion wagon and named him 'McLuvin', ll you Superbad fans will know where thats from!!! haha.

Next morning up early and packed car and checked all levels (water, oil etc). Headed into town and did a food shoop in Woolworths (yes this is one of their major supermarkets here...) We were now ready to commence the journey and first stop we were going to head North up to Port Douglas........... Let the road trip begin!!!
