Day 53:

Left Esperance and headed north to Norseman 200km. Stopped for lunch at BP servo cause that is the only decent thing in Norseman. Why when it is at the end of the Nullarbor and every tourist has to go through does it not do something with the town, really sad I think. Anyway, turned eastward and another 100 km till we reached Fraser Range Station. We have been meaning to stay here the last three trips but have skipped it due to time constraints etc but this time we did it. Lovely farm stay, unfortunately too late for a farm tour but Wally went for long walk up a mountain and he could see forever across the Nullarbor. Found Kangaroos and lizards and supposedly a baby camel but no photo so I am not sure of that one. About 2 kms off the highway so it was quiet and very nice. Definite place to stop again.

Day 54:

Up terribly early cause it is so light by 5am and as we left at 7:30 an emu stepped out of the bush onto the road in front of us accompanied by his six chicks, so gorgeous, but we were in the way. So on the road and all I can say is that we are so exhausted. Morning tea at Caiguna, Lunch at Madura Pass and there was a huge bushfire of towards the south, rather worrying as it was advancing quite quickly so got out as fast as possible. Did 633kms in one go and my back is killing me now, even with stops it is just getting impossible to do in one jump. Just had my physio 'ants' on it so can sit at the table again. We have a time problem as 170 kms ago it said change time zones by 45 mins but if we go 12 kms tomorrow we have to do another 45 minutes. So, our bodies are saying it is 5:50 but it is 7:20 so we are going to bed on SA time we think cause we can and we need it. No Tv reception and limited internet but we manage. Tomorrow we have another 450kms to get across to Penong. The Nullarbor is really you just cross cause you have to and so many do it and it is easy but so long. At lunch a sign said 3020 to Sydney, made me sad we are so far away still. Love our trip so much and all its wonder but still miss home (and my lounge OMG give me comfort on my lounge please soon). Hopefully better tomorrow. No radio or anything so no idea if the idiot has blown up the world or not, what a way to live. xxxx
