Day24 and 25:
Well yesterday was a non-starter after two days of walking and swimming in the beautiful Fern Pool of Karijini National Park. My knees gave out and my body just shut down and the temps were in the high 30's so in our van we did stay. Really hot night and the mossies attacked also, Wally kept hitting at them but all they did was come to me and eat me. Large blotchy bites cover my extremities AND very itchy, so very pleasant.
So, on today we had our longest drive of the trip over to the west again and to Coral Bay. Left Tom Price thankfully at an early hour and travelled thru Parabudoo and then into wilderness again. Left behind the beautiful hills and spinifex and came into quite unattractive country. Luckily a tail wind as the first stop was 300 kms. We did stop after 2 hours for a cuppa in quite a nice spot. You know side of the road with nothing else. Apart from some mining vehicles rushing into a change of shift in Tom Price we must have only seen half a dozen vehicles in a seven-hour day. No road trains which was unusual but thankful all the same.. Lunch was at Nanturra Roadhouse and at $25 each for a burger and chips it was quite ho hum also and in 41 degree temps..erch. Diesel at $1.59 a litre but it is the only place for many roads to meet if you want to head north, south or east. Countryside changed to sanddunes with teepees of termite mounds dotted around, we took photos of these last time we were here but have seen so much bigger ones than these metre high habitations. And finally what a beautiful sight that was to come over a hill and spy fresh clear sparkling blue ocean. Been for a walk and a welcome beer overlooking the pristine water. So looking forward to snorkelling with the fishies here again.
So for today xxxx
