Day 14
ALASKA!!!!!
Finally! 2 weeks, and I made it. awesome!
It's funny how after only 2 weeks of my trip. so much of it seems like a blur and also so very far away at this point. Like Wawa, or Niagra, or the hellish night in the tent or even old brown teeth.
Let me back up a little. I woke up this morning, and before riding out with my new found biker buds, we were to have breakfast with the Germans. So after getting a late start this day, and saying good bye to our new German friends. Before I was ready to leave....oh wait, did I mention, it was raining again? Maybe from this point on I should only mention when it's sunny. Anyway, Markos told me he had something for me, and ran to his rental mini van. He came back with brand new rain gear that he didnt use or need possibly, Im not 100% sure. But he wanted me to have it, and wouldnt take no for an answer. So i guess this was early birthday present #2. Or some kind of pitty present, I'm not sure. But now I have new rain gear too. Which, sadly...will also get a lot of use on this trip it seems. Can anyone remember a summer with so much god damn rain?
At any rate, we rode on to get to Alaska, and the sky finally opened up a nice shade of blue, and the sun came out for the first time in 2 or 3 days I think.
We got to the Alaskan border and took pics and videos like mad. I'll upload them when I can, slow wifi here in the hotel.
We rode on through the border ( no hassles this time ) and made it to Tok. Where we camped out. Now mind you , this was the first time I camped out since that crap storm I got caught in, and of course, all my camping gear was still wet and damp. I'm really starting to hate camping, or maybe rain, or perhaps both... sleeping in damp gear sux ass!
I got hardly any sleep, and had nightmares when I did sleep.
8 days ahead of schedule now.
406 miles today
4,656 total miles.
PS. the bike is running great! she's dirty as hell, and there's really no point in cleaning her. these roads are filled with much dirt & gravel all throughout the upper northwest here.
