So Rodney got us safely up to the Corromandel peninsula. And at last we got to see some beauty in the North Island!! Our first stop was Whangamata, we had read about a fish and chip shop here highly recommended by Lonely planet so we thought we would treat ourselves!!! We sat on a really pretty beach and had them which was nice. We stayed at a motorcamp there for the night and although Whangamata was a really tiny place it was really noisy all night long!!
The next day we went to Hot water beach where you can dig in the sand and the waters really hot!! A bit of bad planning on our side but we got there at high tide so we couldnt access the beach :-( anyway we went to stay in for a night in a place called Hahei. The next day we ventured off to find Cathedral cove. It was a 40 minute walk from the car park along a path that looked down on all these beautiful little coves below. When we got to Cathedral cover we were not dissapointed it was gorgous!! Theres a huge cave in the shape of a cathedral and its just so pretty. We sat on the beach under a tree for ages just taking in the scenery! We then drove over to the other side of the peninsula to Corromandel town which was tiny. We found a lovely caravan park to stay the night just north of the town. There were loads of ducks that surrounded us as we sat outside Rodney......so cute!!! The following day we tried to drive right up to the northern tip of the peninsula but the roads were fairly steep and Rodney was playing up again so we decided to head south instead!! Anyway the corromandel was really lovely!!!
