Yesterday wasn't too bad going back to the bus station, the hotel provided a free truck service so they took a load of us at the same time. He helped us but tickets as well which was really nice of him. Luckily the bus we needed was outside the bus shop so we caught it in time. It only took around 3 hours to get there so arriving in good time at around 1pm. We arrived at the same bus terminal that we had to buy the bus tickets to Siem Reap from. We eventually found the main terminal building after walking round in circles; the booth we went to told us that we had to come back at 7am tomorrow because they didn't know the bus now or something, stood around like lemons asking her questions and because she didn't know what to say or even 'no, no room on bus' we walked off to another counter and asked they directed us to another booth opposite. Well realised that there was only one seat left on the bus for tomorrow so we looked for the day after (20th January) and there were two spare seats so we were really lucky to get these! It sucked though because it meant that we had to stay in Bangkok an extra day which we really didn't want to do!
Staying on Khao San road, in Khao San holiday guesthouse. It was a little hard finding because it was down a little alley, but we did eventually and it's nice, the rooms are small and there's only one plug socket that had the tele plugged into it!
We found out where all the tourists were - Khao San road! They were everywhere, especially the Chinese (of course)!
There were street stalls selling food and drinks, bars and restaurants, shops, travel agents jam packed on the street. Everyone wanting to make you tailored suits.
We searched for the pool we were able to use from another hotel; it was nice but it was in the shade and we needed some sun to dry us off from the freezing cold pool!
Bangkok's heat was a lot more hot and humid than Pak Chong, so it was a little shock to the system again.
We got drunk in the evening, we had two towers of 3litre Changs. Whoops! And we tasted street food, pad thai which was lush! A trolley came around with bugs on it, Scott bought a scorpion. They put soy sauce on it so that's all you could really taste and it just had a dry barbecue crunchy taste to it.
Today we moved hotels to the one directly across the street from us; khao san palace, for the same price we had a pool on the roof which we sat at all day to get away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. We ear wigged a few people talking. This one boy had been planning to travel for six months and ended up cutting his trip short to two months because the first night he arrived he broke his foot and had money stolen, had money stolen a numerous amount of times in Sri Lanka from his card and lost his phone so bought a copy that didn't work, everything had gone wrong for him, fair play!
We started chatting to a couple, Johnny and Lisa who were lovely. We were talking for about 4 hours before we realised that we didn't know each other's names!
We went out for some food together (street stall) and then in the evening went to two bars and ended up having three towers of Chang and playing doubles in pool, which in kind of proud to say that we won because Lisa was really good (you too Jonny hehe!) and I'm crap, although the drink must have some how helped my vision because I wasn't too bad!
Once we sat down and started chatting I realised how tired I actually was, the drink must have helped as well! I started nodding off; as I do!
Drunk and loving life me and Lisa were skipping up the road to try and find a woman doing hair braids, this was proven to be tricky because after all it was 3.30am! (Bare in mind me and Scott have to get up at 7.30 in the morning! What a silly move) We did manage to find one though as she was packing up her things! Then the lads had a great and wonderful idea! We should all get a 1/2 hour massage whilst we were drunk and tired! We got one for 100B each there were so many people working there just swanning around. We got taken upstairs to was a big room with loads of cushion beds on the floor and people having massages, I realised they were all Asian men. - weird! Still find it a little strange seeing men as a masseuse, okay there are men that give sports massages at home but these massages are in a parlour and involve oils and are meant for pleasure, a sport massage makes you feel as though your getting beaten up! Haha.
We finally retreated home, and I zonked out completely! Another goodbye though which really sucked :/
