A long and winded day of travelling, me and Scott are taking the scenic way up to Bangkok to save some dollar, instead of flying straight from Koh Samui.
First trip was an 8am ferry to Koh Samui, then an hour taxi drive in Samui to the other ferry port.
Second ferry for an hour and half to the main land, Donsak. An hour and half bus to the airport and then a flight to Bangkok.
Considering we started travelling at 8am and didn't arrive in Bangkok until 5.30pm the day went pretty quick and I think because the journeys all worked so smoothly without any mishaps, everything was on time aswell; it made it all a lot easier and less stressful. Scott slept near enough the whole way and walked like a zombie whilst he was awake and I caught up on writing the blogs!
The only little query from us both was flying with air Asia, I know we shouldn't think it but it's hard not to after on of heir planes crashed. Every tiny spot of turbulence we went over we were like a bag of nerves the both of us! (And there was hardly anything)
The hard bit of the travelling came afterwards, it all went bad as soon as we arrived in Bangkok!
Our bags took forever to come off the luggage belt, and then the public taxi rank queue was absolutely enormous so that took nearly half an hour to get a taxi ticket.
We finally got that and there was so much traffic on the roads we took the toll roads... In Thailand (or should I say Asia?) they don't understand the meaning of stopping distance between cars. We were coming off the toll road when the car in front slammed his brakes on a little too late and too sharp, meaning our driver had to, I'm not sure his steering or brakes are that good because we slid side wards down the slip road juddering until we stopped and what felt like a few minutes but was only a few split seconds, a car slammed straight into the back of us. Me and Scott both wacked our heads on our head rests, nearly smacking them on the front seats. Our driver got out, didn't ask if we were okay, we had to ask him!
Got out and the other driver and ours are just staring at it all, they sorted out insurances and were on the phone for ages, me and Scott are just sat on the side of the road now waiting for what we thought was another taxi coming to pick us up because the bumber and boot was smashed right in (preying our bags are okay!)
The other car was a right off, the engine and bonet was pushed up and something was hanging on the floor.. Aw it wasn't good! Both of their air cons were leaking aswell.
After about 45 minutes and a few phonecall attempts to uncle terry to let them know why we weren't at the hotel, we got our bags out of the boot, sat them in the back of the car, the driver found a screw on the floor to try and hold the bumber up and off we went! Couldn't believe it... So we eventually pulled up at our ridiculously plush hotel (the Rembrandt hotel) and it all felt like a breath of fresh air! I was so excited for a warm shower and a fluffy pillow I nearly jumped over the desk to rip the key out of her hand!
Had a phone call off uncle Terry about 20 minutes later, him and aunty Lynne were downstairs they had lost mum dad and Ross in another taxi and weren't sure whether they were in the right hotel! Haha.
They had only got on the sky train with 5 cases and was karting them up and down escalators because they thought it would be cheaper than a metered taxi (no it's not! And it's a lot more hassle!)
They got off the train, a women helped them hail a taxi and told them where to go. Aunty Lynne and Terry's taxi brought them straight here and mum dad and Ross's took them for a ride around Bangkok and dropped them off the completely wrong hotel after he said he knew where he was going. So they got out and Ross snatched the money out of his hand mum gave him to take them to the wrong hotel.. And they got another one from the hotel they were dropped outside of.
Only to realise afterwards that where they got off the train, the hotel was 5 minute walk down the road! Haha.
