Yesterday was the easiest day out of their holiday to meet each other because we were all on the same floor of the hotel!had such a good night's sleep! The pillows were so fluffy, my head got lost in them.
We caught the sky train into centre of Bangkok and went to visit the oldest temple in the world, there was a massive Buddha inside that was made of gold, worth £30million and the temple and the Buddha were 700 years old!
We walked through Chinatown and the street markets there looking for some food but there wasn't much of a cafe so we just plodded on. I can't believe how much traffic there is on the roads here. There are 2 and a half million motorbikes/mopeds on the roads in Bangkok!
We headed to the grand palace next but it was too expensive to go in for all of us and once you have seen one, you've seen them all unless you pay for a guide..
Siam square tonight for food, thought there would be more about there other than little Japanese and Chinese food bars. We did manage to find an Italian - eventually!
Today we organised a taxi with the hotel to the floating markets, they are so far outside of the city! We got on these motorised canoes and they took us around the little canals where people live, there were stalls on land but the shop was right on the waters edge. If you point at something you have had it; they have long rods with hooks on to hook on to your boat and drag you in to their shop, haha! Then we stopped at a coconut sugar making shop where we tasted it coconut sugar drink - vile.
Bought some peanut and toffee sweets though which are good!
The floating markets were so cool to see, it was absolutely crazy, women on their boats who were about 80 years of age selling fruit and veg, there were some ing beer and coconuts, making pancakes and crepes, selling clothes. You make it they had it all on a boat! Incredible how they balance on such tiny things and cook food on them aswell!
Another stop at another Buddha temple.. I'm getting sick of these places, they all have the same meaning and do the same thing for the Monks.
We seen a monk yesterday sat in the temple guarding the gifts that were given by people coming to prey, on an iPhone 6! I thought monks were poor and lived by people donating money and clothes to them! - fake monk.
We fed the fish there, these huge red and grey things and massive carp! Ross put our go pro in there, didn't show much except the odd eye and scale coming past the lense every now and then!
We chilled by the pool in the afternoon for a few hours in the sun and then went out to the Asia tuque market this evening. I was expecting old shacks and street food, for it to smell really bad of fish and sewer... Boy was I wrong! It was completely different, it didn't feel like we were in Bangkok at all which was really nice! It was a bit like being down the bay in Cardiff! A huge square with blocks of shops and restaurants and a market square. There was a mixture of pubs, bars and restaurants. They were a little more pricey but looked really nice. We stopped in a brewery and had beer, I think all the beer and cider was watered down except mine; I had a HUGE pint of Hoegardden beer which was really nice! Expensive though! Had a browse and managed to find an Italian that wasn't too pricey, and we were really surprised to say that the food was gorgeous and all came our near enough together and at the same time. WHAAAAAT!? Me and Scott had mixed salami - amaze balls.
