5am they were banging about and screaming and slamming doors, if I had appropriate clothing on I would have gone out and shouted at them. Bloody nuisance. I made sure the 24 hour security and receptionists knew when we checked out that they could have done more rather than just sit there and listen to them screaming on the landing above them.
We had a grab taxi to the airport, got there in plenty of time for the flight to Caticlan. We are on to our last location of the trip! Wow!
The flight was all of 30 minutes and getting off the other side to a shack that just had a wall missing where they would throw your bags onto a shelf for you to collect haha, brilliant!
Bags grabbed, avoided the rip off shuttle buses and down to the good old tricycles for a 10 minute ride to the ferry port, environmental and terminal fees cost way more than the boat itself. We just sort of walked through every post and person to check our tickets and straight onto the little pump boat that go every ten minutes. (This was proving to be way too easy!) we hadn’t landed 25 minutes ago and we were already on our way to the island.
With the boat only being 10 minutes too and another tricycle up to the hostel we were there before 12pm. The easiest transfer we had done in Phillipines or Asia yet!
We weren’t able to check in until 2pm so we walked around a little, surprised at how build up this island was and swarms of asian tourists - everywhere! Every crock and cranny! Probably because they’ve just introduced direct flights from China to boracay airport, they don’t just bring their suitcases they bring their restaurants and shops with them too.
After a wonder around we managed to check in, mad monkey hotel was pretty nice! The pool was huge and we got upgraded to a four bed mixed dorm instead of eight. We had the best pick (away from the front door) ours were a little like pods but with out the fancy tuff and a door, and a decent mattress! They felt brand new anyways, not dipping in the middle and still big fluffy and squishy. There was also silence! No sign of roosters! Hallelujah!
We chilled by the sea for a while this evening before grabbing some yummy food on the way back and attempting to do the quiz at the hostel, but 7pm Asia time meant 8.30pm. By this time we had already given up waiting because we weren’t drinking and what’d you do if your not having a few bevvies!?
The music was absolutely pumping and not decent music either, this lasted until midnight, I can see the headphones are going to be needed to drown out the noise of this place for the next few nights!
