So today we went to the frairi basilica first thing in the morning. It was a large stark church without too much decorations but there were a number of giant tombs and quite a number of chapels. Trapper really liked the whole thing particularly the exposed bricks. I really like St. John the Baptist sculpture by donetello. It was more likely what he would have looked like when you consider his poverty.
We also stepped inside the lobby of scula san rocco. We decided it was probably not worth it. So we continued onwards to Rialto.
In the Rialto area we took in the bridge, the market, some sidewalks and buildings that were flooding. We then checked out a roof top view point on top of the German market. It was all beautiful and cool and a bit crowded.
Then we went home cooked lunch at an appropriate Italian time a little before 2 pm. We then had a little break.
We then hopped back on the vapporetto and went to salute basilica. Trapper really liked it again. She liked how it was round and how much light was inside. It was a church built thanking god for ending a plague in the 1600s.
From there we went to San Giorgio basilica which is in the legume facing San Marco square. It was large but more beautiful from the outside then inside. We sat on the square in front of the church looking across the water at San Marco for a while. It was awesome.
We then went across to San Marco. And walked through the narrow lanes all the way back to our bnb. We stopped near our bnb for supper and a drink. Tomorrow morning we are off to Florence.
