So today we packed up to be ready to leave Florence tomorrow and then took the 11am train to sienna. It was nice to have a slower start to the day.

In sienna we walked initially to il campo. I thought it was super cool. I loved about thinking of the Palio horse race they have twice a year in this tiny for a horse race mideval square. I also think it’s ridiculous that they have an outdoor chapel that they bless horses and riders in before the race and then right after the chapel becomes the emergency room for horses and riders as people and horses are often hurt in the tight turns and hard walls and slippery stones. I’d love to go however Trapper thinks 60 thousand people crammed into that square and balconies would be no fun at all.

We then went into the city hall which had a beautiful view off the back side balcony. But was pretty blah otherwise.

We then took a rick Steve’s walking tour of town which we paused several times to take other things in. We went into the Duomo which sienna was building to compete with Florence. It seems that people think Florence won. I strongly disagree. I like sienna’s much more. Much better decorated and I’m not just saying that because they have a donotello statue.

There was one down side to Today, Trapper got hit by a pigeon bomb. This is the second attack she has suffered by bird. In Venice a seagull stole the last of her gelato cone. The pigeon made her upset but the seagull made her savage.

Anyway after the duomo we finished the Steve’s walk. We also took a gelato break. It’s the best gelato so far. The server said I know. It’s not homemade but other people just buy a mix they put with milk. We located a really good producer and we think it works well.

Anyway we are on our way back to Florence on the train now. We will cook supper when we get home and tomorrow we are off to the agroturismos.
