Wow we had a big day today. We left Venice on a 10am train to Florence. We then got the tickets we needed for the next 5 days in Florence. We moved into our Florence apartment which seems very nice. I even unpacked my bag completely. Oh and most importantly we turned on the ac so it will be beautiful when we get home.
Then around 130 we headed out. We went back to the train station and hopped a train for Pisa. It’s only
About an hour away and all the must sees are in one square so a half day we thought would be enough.
It took us about an hour to get there by train and we hopped a bus to the square.
The Duomo was very nice very bright even though it was made in the old style with Roman rather than gothic arches. The mosaic of Jesus above the alter was huge and amazing. Also we looked at the chandelier that galleleo gallali study. Which formed some of the basic knowledge of pendulums and their uses in science.
From there we went to the baptistery that was huge and nice and the enclosed cemetery which was alright.
Then we went and had a good look at the outside of the leaning tower of Pisa. I had never seen it before. I was blown away. Wow it is really leaning a long way. I heard it leans five degrees that didn’t sound like much. Five degrees on a tower that size is a lot though. I can now tell you.
We then did a little walk through town back through the train station. It was a lovely walk along pedestrianized road almost the entire half hour. We extended our walk further by stopping for supper. I had an amazing papandall. And then we stopped for amazing gelato.
It was a wonderful and romantic evening. Now we are on the train back to Florence and I’m enjoying a small bottle of wine. Looking forward to relaxing in our beautiful apartment. Yay!!!!
