Hey All!
Hope things are well!
Things are going well here! Last night, I saw the dance of black people, I believe is the literal translation of what my mom said. "la baile de negritos" It was very interesting! They play a fiddle, and dance in a circle, stomping their feet. It was cool. I want to learn how to dance like that. They also have guys in masks that act like they are drunk (or very well could just be drunk) that make fun of people and dance funny. They are almost like mascots at football games or basketball games. One guy danced, jumping around and stopping his feet, while playing the fiddle. It was impressive. Its so hard to play an instrument while dancing. Another really fat guy danced a solo. He apparently is the instructor of one of the groups. I thought "there is no way that guy is dancing" and man! Can he move! He was dancing the fastest and most impressive of anyone! I was at least impressed.
My dad is cutting lots of asparagus now. They tell me that I am going to tire of asparagus. But its so delicious here! I dont even know how to describe the difference from the US asparagus, which we import all of it. Its greener, more tender, has 10 times more taste and flavor, and tastes great with everything! The skin is not tough at all, so you can eat it fried, boiled, raw, steamed, any way. Also, the price of asparagus here, from farmer to transporter, is 15 cents a pound. I hear that asparagus in the states is $3.00. Incredible difference. So, if you are ever in peru, and even if you hate asparagus, buy some here just to try it. You wont pay alot for it, and it could taste different from what you are used to.
I saw Sherlock Holmes in English at the brand new movie theatre. It was a saviour. What a great movie! Of couse, any movie in english is going to be good. Now many of those around here. Theatre tickets are $2, so if its bad, I dont really care that much.
Happy travels!
