Hey all!
I just got back from my semana santa adventure in the jungle. Of course, I will put pictures up later. The jungle was not as hot as it is in Ica, which was a nice change. We went to two beautiful water falls, saw a tropical bird site, went to a bat cave, and ate the peanuts of the inkas. Quite the trip! After, We went to the sierra of Junin to see sites of other peace corps volunteers. What a difference and what beautiful sites! I was amazed, and instantly fell in love with their sites. It looks a little bit like Norway, because they are so high up. The altitude is 3500 meters to 4100 meters! They are the highest volunteers in the world! I broke out all of my winter clothes that I brought, and I was still cold. The clothes that people wear are different as well.
I love my site, I really do. But I felt at home in the mountains and the sierra. In the green and cold. I think that I am just meant to live near mountains for the rest of my life!
Now that vacations are over, I am ready to work in my community again! I have a week in site, then go to B3 in pisco to make latrines for a week, then training in Ica for a week. So not much time to get things done!
Happy travels!
