Uluwatu, simple life, surfing and spending time with friends... I wouldn't ask for more. Last week has been quite normal here in Bali including all the activities above. Lukas finally got better from that 40-degree fever and finally we got to surf together once again. Last friday was one of those days that makes homecoming very difficult. We went to the Balangan beach for the whole day with Hanna-Maria, Lukas and Amanda (traveler from Sweden). While Hanna-Maria and Amanda stayed at the beach, Lukas and I conquered the waves twice that day, and the waves were awesome. Also Hanna-Maria has tried surfing couple times at Padang-Padang and Kuta beach and she seems to enjoying it. Especially that first time when she popped up, the joy of surfing was spread all over the beach.
We have been doing some tourist stuff also during last week. Last saturday Hanna-Maria and I drove to Sanur to see an abandoned theme park called Taman Festival. There's not much information about that place or what went wrong, but if you pay 5k/person you can get inside to walk those ruins. So there we walked around those walk paths taking photos in that spooky atmosphere wondering what kind of life there was back in the days. Pictures tells more than my crappy writings, so I'm not going to even try more about that.
Today was a big swell and my plan was to surf those big ass waves, but unfortunately my stomach had different opinion about that. I got a diarrhea and needed to stay close to a toilet for the whole day. Once during this spring I've been in the water when having a diarrhea, forgot that and tried to fart... not the coolest feeling when you soil yourself when you should paddle to a wave. Learned from that and stayed on the land getting better for tomorrow swell. Staying on the land means you have to figure out some activity, so we headed to the Uluwatu temple. The temple is not that special and the whole area is full of tourists, but the view from there is quite amazing. Once again I'll let the pictures tell their story.
The end of my time in Bali is approaching fast. So many things still undone, but that just means I have to return some day. Luckily the ASP tour, the world championship of surfing, is here in Bali. So before leaving, I can see some real surfing action at the beach of Keramas and maybe get a glance from the best rippers in the world. Peace Out!
