Day 49 - Karijini National Park
Today we had a very lazy morning and then went to Dales Gorge. We first walked to Fortescue Falls lookout then we continued the steep descent to Fortescue Falls which were very pretty. We then continued upstream along the gorge floor to Fern Pool. This is a beautiful natural pool with very clear water and the small fish congregate around the ladder, which Josh loves. Rog and the kids both had a swim but I decided to wait till after our walk. We then continued our walk along the gorge floor to Circular Pool (it's a fern framed pool surrounded by sheer cliffs). It was a really pretty walk and another nice pool at the end of the walk but it was freezing cold so only Josh & Rog went swimming. We then returned via the gorge floor back to Fortescue Falls.
We all had a swim at Fortescue Falls and it was so nice and refreshing and we sat in the waterfall.
We then walked back to the caravan for lunch and some downtime. Josh made a fish trap out of sticks and fishing line and Bronte did some craft.
We then walked back to Fern Pool for a swim and Josh tried out his fish trap but it didn’t work so he enjoyed catching the fish in his hands instead (and then he quickly released them). We then walked back to Fortescue Falls and the kids paddled their feet in the water. Whilst we were sitting enjoying the ambience with only one other family around we watched someone getting assisted out with NP rangers and a medic due to a sprained ankle.
It was then time to return back to the caravan for dinner, movie and get ready for an early start tomorrow.
