We left our campsite Merl in Kakadu (near Ubirr) around 9:45am and stopped at Mamukala Wetlands to view the birdlife from the bird hide. There were lots of whistling ducks and some other wetland birds but not too many. We then continued driving out of Kakadu and drove past a billabong which had about a 1000 pelicans (it was amazing to see so many) and stopped at Bark Hut to refuel.
