Darwin - Adelaide River - Batchelor - Litchfield National Park
After one last quick swim at the pool it was time to farewell Howard Springs (Darwin). We left around 10:00am and on the drive we saw lot's of army vehicles from the USA. That might have been what distracted us and instead of taking the turn off to Batchelor and Litchfield National Park we ended up at Adelaide River. So we had a look at the war cemetery and then back tracked back to Batchelor (all up approximately a 40km detour!).
Batchelor is only a very small town and is at the entrance to Litchfield National Park. We bought some bread, went to the tourist information (although no one was there) and saw a castle which has been built out of stone.
We then drove into Litchfield National Park and one of the furthest waterfalls called Wangi Falls which is where we are camping tonight. We had lunch and then went to the Falls for a cool down. They are very pretty with 2 large falls and a huge freshwater pool below. Rog and the kids swam over to both the falls.
After a very refreshing swim we came back to our campsite and sat in the picnic area across the road from our site as there is some beautiful grass and shaded areas. The kids did some colouring-in and we spoke to some other campers.
Rog made a yummy risotto, which we ate in the picnic area.
