Port Lincoln
We left Cowell Tuesday morning and really did head for the hills. We wanted to visit a wind farm to see where they make wind. They were not making much wind as the fans were turning slowly - though still interesting to see the size of those fans - I think I counted about 30 - no wonder it is such a windy place.
We rode into a small called Cleve, however the main street was all blocked off - I thought bomb scare? Gas leak? Terrorist attack? Crazed gun man in a lock down?
We skirted town, and stopped at a small Lions Park where a volunteer Lion was watering the grass. We asked him about the lock down. Rememberance Day. We held a belated silence to reflect on those who have given their lives for our country - it would be nice if some politicians would lay down their lives to save Australia from environmental destruction, ferral cats, rabbits, weeds, mining executives etc.
The ride down to Arno Bay, was pleasant and we stopped at an interesting salt lake - the Penninuslar is really like an environmental disaster either happened or happening. Just wheat, wheat, wheat - an odd tree and then more wheat - no where much for little animals to live and thrive.
We rode from Arno Bay, where we had had a nice lunch to a small bay called Lipson Cove - yes LIPS-on cove for camping at $10 per night and real beach front site.
We set up camp, the wind had died away and we spent two beautiful nights with just the relaxing swish of the gentle waves rocking us to sleep. Sue worked on wearing out her camera - 32 Gb of images - Mal spent a lot of time with his paint brush so his camera had an easy time.
Thursday morning we packed up, did a tour of Roger and Carol's 4x4 motohome - interesting and then headed for Tumby Bay for coffee. We stopped early at Port Lincoln to do washing and a restock before heading off to spend some time in the National Park.
