We packed up slowly and said good bye to Ian and Chris - really nice folk to know and to camp with - lets hope we can do it again sometime.
We couldn't get in Touch with Mikkirra Station to camp there so we rode back into Port Lincoln - had a few things to do - one was to get an extra drive sorted for the laptop - yes it's a Mac - it is a good laptop in that it is very energy efficient so is good to travel with - but it's a Mac -
So the computer people in the Port deal with PC and while the lady was helpful we could not solve the problem. Found out the local camera store sells Mac - Wow great - so I rock around there - young girls, all of whom are probably sporting business cards, stating they are qualified professional photographers - one such young lady handed me a card and said call this man he is the tech support for Mac - wait she did ask me one question before that - "where did you by it?" - I told her Queensland because I come from there - then I got the card treatment.
We had lunch in a small park and then headed off to Coffin Bay- hot ride over but the temp dropped as we got closer to the bay - down to 34 - so we decided we would stay a night in the caravan park and then ride out to the National Park to check out the camp sites. The campsites are fine - however it is Sue's birthday on Friday so we decided we would perhaps just stay in town for two nights and be here to celebrate her special day.
Thursday 20th
Big electrical storm last night, a bit of rain but not much ……………………………. Sorry for just rushing off this camp chair was killing my back, so just ducked off to get a pillow … now that storm - it was like the thunder was in the tent with us - bang, crash, rumble.
We of course survived, but we did pop up the awning because there was a bit of drizzle following the storm. We walked down town this morning - great spot - if we were to have a beach house it would be some place like this. Yes it will get stuffed up by developers soon enough but for the moment it is just terrific - did I say terrific - no no no I meant terrible - not the place to advise anyone to ever visit - the Gold Coast has it all and that is where all the people who want a real beach holiday should go.
In the afternoon we rode out to Cape Avoid (see what I mean - Gold Coast is the spot) - we climbed down to the beach and it is one of the few white sand beaches in Australia that has more bird foot prints than human ones - the sea was aqua blue and the eroded sandstone cliffs are intricate in detail and full of surprises.
21st -
Happy Birthday Sue
