Welcome home!
After an early start and a shower incident with a giant sized moth, I have arrived back at my spiritual home in South East Asia; Bangkok.
Apart from having to wake at 5am to catch an 8am flight, the journey here was hassle free. I flew with Lao Airlines for the second time on this trip. Once again it was a small plane with propellers.
Fortunately there were only around 15 people on a plane that holds around 100, which made it a very pleasant journey indeed.
Halfway through I met my little buddy Alan (an 18 month old Laotian boy). He was very friendly but was a little too interested in the fire exit for my liking!
After a short flight, and a short sky train back to the Silom area, I returned to the hostel I stayed in last month (The Urban Age). The girls who run it remembered my face, and I received a very homely welcome.
Fortunately someone is checking out of the dorm today so when 12 o'clock arrives I'll have my temporary location before heading south to the islands.
At 2pm I plan to meet Aimi Jones, a lady who I used to work with at David Mclean. She got married in Thailand and currently lives here. It will be nice to see a friendly face from back home for the first time on this trip.
It feels good to be back to the bustling streets of Bangkok, not to mention the Phad Thai which I've so dearly missed. However I'm not looking forward to upping my guard against the many scam artists that were thankfully absent in Laos.
