There are 27 million people in Beijing, and probably 9 million Bicycles. Yet somehow, randomly I bump into Randall (NYC) from the hostel. He was also taking a bike ride.
What was supposed to be an hours bike ride, turned into a 4 hour full afternoon. Riding a bike is by far the best way to explore Beijing, and I'm sorry I didn't try it earlier.
We visited jingshan park, which was very beautiful, probably the best I've visited in Beijing due to it's vantage point which provides excellent views of the City.
After that we rode up to King Gongs Mansion, rode through various Hutongs (traditional Chinese houses turned stalls) and returned back past the Forbidden City and Tianmen Square.
I went for one final meal at my favourite cheap restaurant, now it's time to chill at the hostel before taking the 22.15 hard sleeper train to Shanghai.
I love the randomness of travelling, the adventure, the fun of meeting new people and learning about different cultures. I've managed to learn a few Chinese phrases in my short time here (the important stuff like "beer" and "how much?".
I now look forward to leaving one place and exploring a new one. Goodbye Beijing!!
