The Great Wall of China.
Today I went to visit one of the 7 or 8 (cant remember how many) wonders of the world, "The Great Wall of China". What a truly spectacular sight!
The day didnt get off to the greatest of starts. I was meant to meet in reception at 7.20 and woke up to find 7.30 on my clock! I'm not sure if it was the jet lag, the heat or the fact the mattress feels like it's made out of concrete. Either way I struggled to get to sleep last night.
Anyhow I managed to rush to get ready in supersonic timing and still managed to remember my camera!
And what a good job, as trekking the Great Wall provides the best opportunity to capture some amazing images.
I am truly amazed of its beauty and fascinated by the history behind it. We visited the Badaling part of the wall which took longer to get to but was well worth it.
We bypassed the popular touristy areas and it felt like we had the wall to ourselves. We also avoided any tourist traps of locals trying to cash in, this is simply because there were no tourists there!
I would certainly recommend this tour which was booked directly through the Leo Hostel. The price was 260 yuan (approximately £26) and this includes travel, entry, tour guide and lunch. Well worth every penny.
Anyway I'm off to a night Market now to try some scorpion!!
