We landed yesterday and are now staying with our friends Luke and Hayley who we met last April and travelled the West coast with. They are in the process of going through sponsorship to get residency here but it seems like the road is never smooth and there's always obstacles to overcome in the game of immigration!
We have been quite organised since we got here, we have opened a bank account, applied for our tax file numbers and started applying for jobs. We've decided that we are best to work for 4-6 months save up then carry on seeing the continent!
It's really bloody hot here, the humidity is nearing 95% quite a shock compared to the heat in New Zealand which is comfortable and not humid at all, but we're in luck as the complex where Luke and Hayley live has a lovely pool, BBQ area and a tennis court (that won't be used!). There are a few untis coming up for rent in the next month so we're hoping that once at least one of us in work we can rent for a while and have some home comforts, the only bills that you need to pay here is the electricity and rent the rest is covered by the landlord so all going well we should be quite happy for a while.
