On the way to Agnes Water we stopped at Bundaberg for the one and only reason to take the rum distillery tour. 97% of Bundaberg rum is sold in Australia with the other 3% for the rest of the world so there is very little chance to try this anywhere else but I'm sure there is a bar in London that sells it for extortionate amounts, over here though it's premixed in cans for not a lot at all.
The tour was really good, we got to see the huge warehouse of molasses, which was really overpowering and hot inside, we saw the massive vats of rum that hold 100's of litres where it matures before it goes off to be watered down to the legal alcohol percentage for sale. The cost of the tour also included 2 free drinks of rum which were really nice especially the liqueur which had essence of coffee and chocolate which I loved, but this can't be brought anywhere apart from the Bundaberg distillery and costs quite a bit so I had to savour the flavor and that was that, I wouldn't be too happy if an $80 bottle of liqueur broke in my backpack and we couldn't afford it anyway, get over it basically!
Next stop was Agnes Water and the Town of 1770. We had been told that it was worth going to if it was on our way, which generally means don't make speacial plans to go we woudl be passing anyway but it was further then we thought so ended up at 1770 in the dark found a campsite and went to bed already deciding that we weren't going to stay another night as the price was going up the next day due to the long weekend and we weren't prepared to pay $30.
The next morning we wereup and out of there by 9.30 had a look around, not much to see that we hadn't see a million times by now took some pics went to Agnes Water did the same there and pressed on to Hervey Bay
