We're off to Australia again tomorrow and our time in New Zealand is almost over after spending 8 months here.
There was a lot of things to sort out once we got back to Cokers the main thing being selling the car, so we traipsed around all the backpackers, put it on Gumtree, the local papers , auction site and a free online paper. I was stressing as we were leaving soon and over $4,000 was tied up in the car if it didn't sell we were screwed but as usual my worrying wasn't needed and we sold our beloved Terrano to a farmer who was going to use it tow his sheep about so I doubt it was going to stay in the condition we had it but never mind, we've got our money!
The rest of our time was spent waiting around really with not a great deal to do, every January there is the annual Buskers festival where all the top buskers around the world come to perform around the city and in the parks, shows start from 9am - 6pm and then more adult themed show happen from 7pm-11pm. We wandered into the centre a few times to see who was performing, it had to be really child friendly during the day so there was a lot of slap stick comedy but enjoyable none the less.
We also had a spur of the moment decision to go to a music festival / concert being held in Hagley park, there were no acts there that we had heard of but there was a big group of us all either not working or not started back yet so it was a good excuse to make the most of a beautiful day in Christchurch.
We had our leaving drinks in the Woolshed last night, I am really going to miss everyone here we have once again made some amazing friends who this time are not leaving us but we are leaving them andwe are also now saying goodbye to Roger who is staying in New Zealand.
Everyone has to leave at some point as there is only so long that we can all stay due to visa length so there is a little selfish comfort in that thought!
We love New Zealand and haven't even been able to touch the North island yet but definitely plan to go back. We came so close to sponsorship but there are a lot of factors to take into consideration and at this point in time it's not quite right for us. We've got a year's visa for Australia so who knows what can go on in a year, so much seems to have been experienced and happened in 16 months and I know that whatever we do it won't be boring!!
