Silent Grove - Bell Gorge 25/6/15
Commenced the Gibb River Road this morning through Napier Ranges and looking forward to a challenge. Some corrugations to the Bell Gorge turnoff and surprisingly some sections of bitumen mainly in creek crossings and a few of the steeper down sections to this point. The road into the camp area is a little rougher with several deep water crossings. The camp is fed by a natural spring so facilities seem pretty flash with open solared showers and flushing toilets! The 10 km drive to the gorge was pretty rough then just a short 20 min rock hopping walk down into the gorge to the stepped waterfall view, then another short steep climb down to the icy cold water of the rock pool. Lots of people swimming but a great place for us to sit on the rocks for lunch. We enjoyed great company around the campfire that night, haven't laughed so much in ages. This is a great opportunity to gather information on camps as well as other interesting places to visit in Australia, over a beer/ wine. The fire was stoked ready for us all to cook tea.
