Green Head WA. 14/5/15
The weather is taking on its seasonal change in Perth and I think we will be just ahead of some bad storms by travelling North. We were up this way camping with the boys and quite liked this little coastal village. There are lots of sandunes close to our campsite, and loads of recreational fishermen and rock lobster fishing. Mt Lesueur NP was a good introduction to some early flowering native plants, mostly grevilleas and wattles. Stockyard Gully Caves were impressive not only from an historic point but also geologically, being formed by underground river systems all those years ago. The caves were used by stockmen as a mustering pen for 300-400 head of cattle as they were heading south. This was part of the Old North Stock Route. The tunnel is about 1.5 km long and accessible as a through walking trail. Another day we drove to Jurien Bay and Leeman both snorkelling and fishing/ Rock lobster townships positioned on the scenic Indian Ocean Drive . The weather was still a little showery.
Our stay was a little wet here with strong gale force winds and heavy rain, just the time when Perth was experiencing heavy rain and cold weather. We were also suffering the same cold weather so we were tucked up in the camper with the diesel heater running. Some camping luxury, but fortunate that we have the space to move indoors in times of need.
