After a swim, a shower and farting around with petrol in Christchurch we headed over to the airport and left Muriel, without giving her a proper goodbye we're ashamed to admit, and headed to the airport. We have had a great time here, the scenery is really spectacular, especially as there is so much of it in such a small location, it's amazing all the different places we have visited although we did drive 3,856 km in three weeks and still didn't make it all the way to the very south.
Alongside the spectacular scenery a few other things we'll remember:
Bad radio, roadkill and wildlife crossing the road, great skimming lakes, expensive petrol (or at least a vehicle that drank lots), getting excited when we spotted a bin or a drinking water sign, big efforts for showers, terrible water pump, Alison's aytron senna impressions, great public toilets, honesty payments and all round friendly people.
Leaving our 9th country with only 2 more to go, although they're both pretty big ones.
